Entertainment Weekly reports, “Sources confirm to me exclusively that Vampire Diaries has tapped the inimitable Melinda Clarke (The O.C., CSI) to play Kelly Donovan, Matt’s irresponsible, hard-drinking absentee mother.
How rotten is this woman? She didn’t even bother to show up to her own daughter’s funeral. (In other words, my kind of gal!) I’m told Clark’s scenery-chewing boozehound will blow into town in March and stick around for at least three episodes.”

The Examiner reports, “The People’s Choice Awards will air tomorrow night on CBS and Vampire Diaries is in the running for favorite New TV Drama. While the numbers are already tallied for most categories, voting is still open for this one. Have you voted?
While there is some stiff competition, Vampire Diaries has such successful ratings in its key demographics, it’s certainly not a long shot.”
The People’s Choice Awards air on CBS today (Wednesday, January 6th) at 9/8C.
